5th February 2002 The Dusthole v Green Dragon
Before we start, I would just like to crow a little about how correct my final comment was last week. The Patriots are Superbowl champions at their third attempt! Just goes to show the Steelers had no business being in that game..... Webmaster.
Simon on the spot says:
The Dragon gains revenge for the home loss earlier in the season by beating the Dusthole in a match that was all over by 10.00 o'clock!
The Singles
Tony lost, Paul won, Rich lost, Peachey lost, Geoff lost, Simon won, Horse won, Martin H lost. (losing 5 - 3)
The Doubles
Tony and Paul won, Rich and Peachey lost, Geoff and Simon won, Horse and Martin H won (6 all)
The Fours
Won top 4, lost bottom 4 (in which they played a blinder) - 8 all.
The Eight
Won eight (see later for details!) - won 11 - 8 (2 points).
Details: -
Tony loses single therefore taking credit for the whole victory.
Paul won single after two straight losses.
Dragon recovers from 4-1 down in the singles to win 11-8.
Simon checks out on 72 to win double, but this was largely eclipsed in the deciding gallon by Paul who checked out a 121 finish to win the match (20, treble 17, bull - bit of a fluke really! Simon however gets the credit for this by going to the toilet at the crucial moment and missing the whole thing). A fitting way to clinch what was a high quality match throughout.
This could knock them off the top of the table, as they apparently lost last week as well. Incidentally we were third, behind Dusthole and Pheasant, with a game in hand and two recent wins to come. As top three get trophies it looks like another bit of tacky placky is on the way - we were well ahead of 4th place team. (hmmm... Talk about counting your chickens .... Webmaster.)
No game next week, but we have organized an in-house tournament! How many will remember and turn up.................................
