4th December 2001 -
Green Dragon v Bell Inn, Wilton
Simon on the spot says:
A three pointer at last - and it was never in doubt!
The Singles
Tony lost, Paul won, Peachey lost, Geoff won, Rich won, Martin T won
(I repeat, Martin T won!), Simon won, Martin H lost. Winning 5-3.
The Doubles
Tony and Paul won (despite being several hundred behind with the
opposition on a double), Peachey and Geoff lost, Rich and Martin T won,
Simon and Martin H won. Winning 8 - 4.
The Fours
Won the top 4 - to clinch the match. Lost the meaningless bottom 4
(that's our excuse). Winning 10 - 6.
The Eight
Won the 8 to clinch the 3 points - 13 - 6 (3 points).
Points of note: -
Paul unbeaten on the night and maintains his 100% record in the
singles. Didn't get a 180 this week though - slacker!
Martin T breaks his duck in the singles (not counting his week 1
walkover), and also wins his doubles.
Captain and ex-captain disappoint in their singles again despite
playing at the easy nr 1 and 8 positions.
Simon gets out in the eight for the second week on the trot with a
huge check out of 14 (nearly his biggest score of the night).
Peachey keeps everyone waiting for 5 minutes whilst chatting to someone
in the gents in the middle of his 4.
Geoff wins another single, as does Rich - this is becoming a
habit!
As there is no match next week - Laverstock Club withdrew when they
heard they were in our league - I will do a report on the stats at
what will be almost the half way point of the season (1 game left
before Xmas).
