- Green Dragon v Stonehenge Inn
STONEHENGE FLATTENED BUT NOT DESTROYED
Simon on the spot says
Has the Dragon done enough to clinch the league? A two point victory in the last game of the season - we fear 3 points were required.
First the facts: -
The Singles
Tony won, Paul won, Horse won, Rich lost, Geoff lost, Peachey lost, Simon won, Martin H won. (Winning 5-3).
The Doubles
Tony and Paul won, Horse and Rich lost, Geoff and Peachey lost, Simon and Martin H won. (Winning 7-5).
The Fours
Won top four, lost bottom four. (Winning 9-7).
The Eight
Won eight. (Won 12-7; two points).
The story of the match: -
The evening started as planned (if slightly late) with the eight seater taxi and a very tolerant lady driver
delivering us to the Stonehenge Inn.
Tony began by losing a dart behind a radiator after a trademark bounce-out (latest nick-name is Fatima).
Rich was very unlucky to lose his single after hitting the wire on every double on the board. Had he won this would have given us a four nil lead and also given us all three points on the night - so its all his fault!
Tony and Paul won all their legs on the night.
The chance for the three point victory was extinguished when the second four lost in slightly disappointing fashion.
The game was therefore all on the eight and the Dragon certainly saved their best 'til last. Tony checked out with the second dart of his third chuck. Thats exactly 50 darts to finish 1001 (work it out!) -
thats an average for the team of 20 per dart, or 60 per throw!
Geoff finished his season with a 123 on his last chuck - let's hope he can maintain that form into September.
Tony also managed to give a fitting finale to the season. With a double required to win the eight, he managed to snap a stem as he picked up his darts to throw. Despite many offers to lend darts,
Tony insisted "two would be enough!". You've guessed it - second dart straight in! So guess what the topic of conversation was for the rest of the night (well Tony was talking about it anyway!).
The same lady taxi driver turned up at 10.30 and very kindly came in and had a drink whilst we finished up! We eventually left at about 11.
And now for the very exciting stats final results. I've had to increase the number of decimal places in an attempt to sort out several photo finishes.
