13th November 2001 - The Pheasant v Green Dragon
Simon on the spot says:
A much improved Pheasant Team from last year (actually it seemed to be made up from the old Black Horse and Old Ale House teams) was still not good enough to stop the rampant Dragon storming to a 5th win out of 6!
Once again, however, we made it harder than it should have been ("that's just the way darts goes" - and that's the first time I've used that this season!) and the match was taken to a deciding gallon.
The Singles
Tony won, Paul won, Geoff lost, Martin T lost, Rich won, Peachey lost, Simon won and Martin H. won. (5-3 ahead).
The Doubles
Tony and Paul won (breaking their duck much to the delight of the crowd, ...well, to Tony and Paul anyway), Geoff and Martin T lost, Rich and Peachey won, Simon and Martin H lost. (7-5 ahead).
The Fours
We lost top 4 but won the bottom 4 (9-7 ahead).
The Eight
We won the 8, with Tony getting the vital double just as it looked as
if we had squandered our 200 lead.
(Won the match 12-7, that's 2 points).
Points of note: -
Yes, ok, so Tony and Paul finally won their first double. We can only assume from the celebrating that took place that they won some money on it!
Rich wins all his legs for the second week on the trot! A fleet of pigs nearly crashed into Salisbury Cathedral spire whilst carrying out a low flying pass of the city!
Horse turns up to give us 9 players but very unselfishly declines to play.
