- In House Tournament
Poor turn out in "Dean" Dragon Tournament!
Simon on the spot says:
Well, I had spent all week working out tournaments for 6 players, 7
players, 8 players, 9 players and even 10 players, where everyone would
get a reasonable number of games.
How many turned up? Five! Bloody five.
I had even worked out the seeding based on the seasons stats so far:
1. Martin H.
2. Paul
3. Simon
4. Rich
5. Horse
6. Tony
7. Geoff
8. Peachey
9. Martin T.
Unseeded: Martin Junior, Mike, Rogan
So congratulations to the five who made the effort, who played a
round robin (2 legs against each player which resulted as follows: -
Paul won 7 (out of 8) - lost 1 leg to Simon
Simon won 6 - losing 1 leg to each of Paul and Horse
Rich won 4 - Beating Horse 2 legs, and Geoff 2 legs
Horse won 3 - beating Geoff 2 legs, and Simon 1 leg
Geoff failed to trouble the scorer
Paul then beat Simon 2 - 0 in the final (reversing last year's
result).
Some other noteworthy events on the night:-
The final result proved the seeding correct (of those that turned
up).
Horse hit more treble ones then you can shake a stick at.
St Geoff is now the Patron Saint of Doors, following his night long
battle with the dartboard cupboard doors which seemed to swing shut of
their own accord every time it was his throw.
Rich was nearly as good at chalking as Geoff was at darts.
The Dean's dominate the event for the second year on the trot. Well
its not our fault most of the others were too scared to turn up! We can
only beat what's put in front of us!
To be fair to Peachey, he did turn up but he was 15 minutes too late,
and we were already underway.
Martin H was also at the Dragon, but was having a Chinese night in
the restaurant with all the other saddos (I'm surprised Horse wasn't
celebrating since it is now the year of the Horse. Lets hope that bodes
well for the darts! Webmaster.). He then came round to us at
10.00pm, pissed up, and proceeded to piss us all off shouting and
hollering whilst we were trying to play darts! Well what else are
captains for? He also never brought up the prizes as he promised when he
was drinking Stella last week!
Tony never made it - although that's understandable as he would have
had to drive.
Marin T probably didn't even know we were having a tournament as he
didn't play last week! Sorry.
Well, that was quite a long report once I got going.
